The February meeting was a very happy one.
Mary Sibley demonstrated various ways to decorate circular willow wreaths: in this case a ‘lookalike’ version made from Virginia Creeper when it is cut back. This provides a very environmentally friendly source for what would have been garden waste.
Mary had taken all the hard work out of the process by preparing wreaths so members could enjoy the fun part of the process – decoration. There was a magnificent array of raffia, ribbon, beads, buttons and feathers to choose from that Mary brought along.
We were also shown how to make a wreath into a ‘dream catcher’:traditionally said to prevent nasty dreams and usually decorated with feathers with some kind of web in the centre of the wreath.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed putting their own particularly stamp on the decoration and all of us went home smiling with our completed wreath.
